the above title is taken from a song i really like called “mother country.” it’s about, like, america and collective memory and individual resolve and all the hubris and hope that makes us what we are. i’ve been listening to it a lot, recently.
campaigns can be and usually are brutal experiences, especially for the organizers at the bottom of the totem pole, but there are moments at which you feel yourself to be “one equal temper of heroic hearts”, to be dramatic and use a tennyson phrase. your fellow organizers, who were so kind and wonderful and dedicated and fun to be around, remind you of what’s possible. mine are pictured below, and they’re gonna change the world.
